Twins Balk At Mayor's Stadium Plan
Coleman Won't Pursue Issue
Associated Press

ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Twins have said no to Mayor Norm Coleman's proposal for a ballpark in St. Paul.

Twins President Jerry Bell said it's not that the Twins were not interested, but that the plan did not work.

Bell said that the St. Paul proposal would have required a big investment from the business community and the team -- much more than would have allowed the Twins to remain competitive.

Coleman (pictured, left) said through his representatives that he will not pursue his ballpark effort any further. The mayor is not running for re-election this year and has indicated that he might run for the U.S. Senate next year.
